Free MP3 CD Ripper allows you to rip your audio CD tracks to MP3, WAV, WMA, OGG, FLAC, APE and convert audio files in different formats. It also supports free CDDB, ID3 tag and sound normalization.
Pros: Free MP3 CD Ripper is an easy CD ripper application. It also includes a conversion utility that helps audio files to be inter-converted between two formats that are supported. With the built-in CD player, you can preview the CD tracks before you start CD ripping process. The simple interface reads of the track data and lists them in the work area for easy reference while ripping the tracks. One can simply let the software rip the complete CD or pick and choose tracks to one’s liking. Formats supported include, besides MP3, formats like WAV, WMA, OGG, FLAC, APE etc. The CD ripper allows you to retrieve CD information from remote CDDB. It also supports ID3 tag and sound normalization.
It is possible to trade off between file size and output quality as is adjusting the output volume through sound normalization. Album related information is updated through the remote CDDB support and information like album, artist, track titles etc can be collected while ripping the tracks. Any additional information can be added through ID3 tag edits. Parameter settings specific to output format chosen can be set up for optimum conversion.
The audio converter you can convert your MP3 to WAV, WAV to MP3, WAV to WMA etc. The user interface is absolutely easy to use. There’re very few clicks required during the ripping or the conversion process.
Cons: CD rippers have traditionally been part of MP3 players such as the WMP, Music Match etc. How useful freestanding CD ripper would be is not known.
Overall the application is easy to use and learn. It is easily 3 star quality in the limited functionality it addresses.
If you want something fancy that`s going to help you do everything, look elsewhere. If you want a CD ripper to rip CDs with, then this is perfect.
